Carson Townsend

 

Carson is a student member on the AGA Board. She is a senior at UNM, where she is a Presidential Scholar, and will be graduating in May 2010 with her Bachelors in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting.  As a student, Carson has made the Dean’s List for six consecutive semesters, including her first two in the Anderson School of Management.  She is also involved in Beta Alpha Psi, an honors organization for Accounting, Finance and MIS students.  This year Carson is serving as the Secretary for Beta Alpha Psi, which involves monitoring and documenting professional and service minutes for all of the members and candidates.  As a member, Carson has also participated in a number of community service events, including volunteering at the Roadrunner Food Bank and assisting ARCA clients with tax preparation.  Carson currently works as a Fiscal Services Technician for the Center for Emerging Energy Technologies within the School of Engineering at UNM.  Here she has had exposure to governmental accounting practices.  Recently Carson applied for and was accepted as a summer accounting intern at Meyners and Company.  After graduation this spring, Carson plans to pursue a Masters in Business Administration at UNM, and then sit for the CPA exam.
